Description
Porto Foxi is an almost unknown port situated in the municipality of Sarroch, in the province of Cagliari and within the Gulf of Angels.
Despite its rural look, Sarroch was an important reference point in the past and it still has an important historical identity. The city hosts, in fact, many archaeological remains and some prestigious buildings.
This historical profile inevitably justifies the presence of a harbour that, according to scholars, played the role of an important crossroads between diffent cultures.
Nestled in a promontory overlookign the sea, the port we can see today is very picturesque, with an ancient watchtower, two long docks and a wide basin.
The port has essentially preserved its identity as a commercial and industrial crossroads. Despite its size, in fact, it is reached by many boats every year. The facility offers a wide range of services, including water, electricity, a slipway, cranes, travel lifts, toilets, fire-fighting systems, weather forecast, engine and electric repairs. This multitude of services allows the structure to establish itself as the oil harbour of Cagliari. Its two docks can , in fact, host both recreational boats and tankers.
The current Porto Foxi is therefore a modern evolution of a harbour that hasn't lost its historical identity, now able to offer a considerable range of commercial and industrial services required by modern times and the whole province of Cagliari.
