Description

Where to dock in Sardinia: the Port of Palau

Situated in front of La Maddalena Archipelago, the port of Palau represents an ideal starting point to reach Costa Smeralda, the Strait of Bonifacio, southern Corsica, La Maddalena Archipelago islands, all parts of the namesake Natural Park (La Maddalena, Caprera, Santo Stefano, Spargi, Budelli, Santa Maria, Razzoli) and the islands of the Bonifacio Strait Internartional Marine Park (Lavezzi, Cavallo, Isola Piana) in southern Corsica.

The port facility consists of a large dock, an area specifically reserved for Italian Navy, some quays, 7 floating jetties and a cement pier reserved for recreational boats. The port can host boats up to 18 metres in lenght.

Sea bottoms range from 1.5 to 4 metres around the quays. The port also includes a filling station and a quay reserved for transiting vessels. Out of the port, a multi-buoy mooring terminal allows yachtsmen to drop the anchor in complete safety.

Yachting services include a 18-ton crane, a 60-ton travel lift and a boat storage area in the eastern part of the port.

When entering and going out of the port, yachtsmen are required to use caution and pay particular attention to transiting tourist boats and ferries.

The port of Palau is equipped with water, electricity, toilets, showers, garbage bins, boat rental points.

The marina is located in the heart of the city of Palau, where visitors can easily find all sorts of tourist services, such as car rental, supermarkets, shipchandlers and shops.

Authorizations and permissions to enjoy sports and yachting activites in the protected marine park of La Maddalena Archipelago can be required at the Park's Office in Palau.
