Description
Situated in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, just 11 miles from the ideal Gibraltar/Suez line, the port facility of Cagliari is the first port in Sardinia in terms of passenger transport and a very important crossroads for over 2500 years.
The facility includes 3 different zones:
- Historical port: positioned about 100 metres away from the city centre, it has a surface of almost 5,800 square metres. It is generally devoted to commercial trades, fishing, yachting, cruise ships and passenger services. Sea bottoms range from 3 up to 12 metres.
- Canal harbour: 1,600 m2 of quays. Draft is 16 metres.
- Oil terminal: it can host 17 ships
