With its 194 seats for boats up to 12 meters and its many dry maintenance and repair facilities (gantry, tide gate, electro-hydraulic crane), the Belém dock has, for all sailing enthusiasts of the world, a important symbolic location: the Portuguese ships departed here, which in the 15th and 16th centuries were pioneers of the Discoveries, and so decisively revolutionized the construction techniques of sailing ships and navigation on the high seas.
