Description

Enjoying a privileged position in southern Peloponnese, Kalamata Marina is a small marina characterised by a good number of services and a very lucky location. It's one among the safest marinas of the Mediterranean, where you can leave your boat for all winter and enjoy complete services and assistance.

The marina shares a border with the public port of the town, which, in its turn, can receive both boats and big cargo ships (until post-war, Kalamata was a very important commercial port in the Mediterranean and a vital intersection for the Greek import-export trade) just at the foot of the nice town, very croweded at summer nights.

Kalamata and its port arise inside the deep Messenian Gulf and enjoys a lucky geographic position: bathed by the Ionian Sea, it's sheltered at East from the mountain chain of Taygetos Oros, which offers a breath-taking sight to its numerous visitors.

The town is surrounded by numerous white-sand and rocky beaches; the marina offers a car, scooter and bike rental service which can help you to reach them.

The marina is well-sheltered and offers 250 mooring places for boats up to 25 m. It's equipped with both fixed and mobile piers and it offers daily, monthy and annual places.

As already said, the marina is literally incorporated into the city, so reaching the main services is quite easy, even though we talk about basic and essential services: a self-service laundry, toilets, showers, pay phones, free WiFi, a gas station and a port police station. Every mooring place is equipped with (pay) drinkable water and electric charging columns ( 220/380 V).

Moreover, the marina offers a dry dock which can receive about 150 boats and a 60-ton-travelift. The marina doesn't have an own technical staff but it uses a network of external experts for repair and maintenance services. In the surroundings, you can find many coffee bars, supermakets, restaurants, souvernir shops and even a bank.

While approaching Kalamata Marina, you will sail near some natural bays offering a good shelter and a real alternative to the marina itself. Port Limeni (also known as Ormos Limeni) is the northermost one on the eastern coast of the large gulf hosting Kalamata. We suggest no to drop the anchor opposite the town of Limeni bacause of the great amount of buoys, chains and mooring ropes present on the bottom. The best option is to drop the anchor north of Neo Itilo, where depth is about 3-5 m.

Another bay where you can find a good shelter is that of Dyros, a little south of Limeni
