Description
Kos Marina is the most modern marina on Kos island, near the namesake city. Kos is the second island of the Docecanese archipelago, after Rodhes, in terms of tourism arrivals. It'a very crowded place, especially in summer.
Just 4 km far from Turkish coasts, Kos is an excellent starting point to visit both Turkey and Dodecanese Islands. Thanks to the great amount of mooring palces it offers (in addition to the marina, there is in fact an old port, now managed by the marina itself), the city is also a perfect starting point to visit the island itself.
The city of Kos offers lots of attractions, such as Asclepius' Temple, the Greek god of medicine, just 5 km from the city and Neratzia Castle, the Medieval fortress located just at the entrance of the old port.
Kos is also said to be the birthplace of Hippocrates, the father of medicine, and it is rich of wonderful beaches, where sea is crystal-clear and blue. You can rent a car or a scooter to have a tour on the island and discover its breath-taking landscapes.
Kos Marina is about 45 minutes by foot from the city centre; it's a modern structure (it opened in 2001) which can receive 250 boats up to 50 metres. The marina is completely artificial, a long brakwater protects four floating docks, while some other mooring places are along the short dock which marks the entrance of the marina.
Reaching the marina is not hard; the only danger is represented by the shallows and low bottoms near Cape Kum, north-west of the port. Please contact the marina staff on VHF channel 77 for mooring instructions.
All mooring places are provided with water, 220/380 V electric charging columns and free Wi-Fi; the marina also offers a gas station, a storage area, a garage, a 100-ton travelift, a slipway and technical staff for maintenance and reparations.
Moreover, the marina is equipped with toilets, showers, a laundry, ATM, car and moto rental services, cafés, a restaurant, a supermarket, souvernir chandler shops. There are even 2 small apartments.
The marina is under 24h/24 surveillance and it offers a private parking lot. Many other services, such as luggage custody, private transfers, boat surveillance, can be required at the reception.
An efficient bus service links the marina to the city
