Description

Port de Leucate is located on the Gulf of Lion Coast (Mediterranean France), in the municipality of Leucate.

It' one of the largest harbours in Europe.

It's made up of two main basins and other three smaller basins, in addition to a natural zone which hosts some mooring places. The good location, between the sea and of Leucate, gives a good shelter.

Mooring places are 1270 in total, 200 of which are reserved for transiting yachtsmen, located at floating mobile or fixed cement piers.

The harbour can host boats with a maximum length of 23 metres, while draught varies from 4 to 2 metres.

Anchorage is forbidden in the whole harbour and the area just in front of it.

North-eastern and south-western winds can cause strong waves and some troubles, even if the harbour ensures an overall good shelter.

The marina offers the following service: drinkable water, electric charging columns, toilets, showers (accessible through a magnetic badge), a waste and exhausted oils collection area and bilge pumps.

The yard is equipped with three travelifts, respectively with a range of 6, 12 and 50 tons, some cranes, two hauling zones, a pay slipway, a garaging area for small and big boats, some small repairing zones and a self-service laundry.

The harbour is also provided with a patrol and gasoline self-service station (24h/24).

The skilled staff of the harbour is available for maintenance and repairing operations (mechanical, electronic, on sailing and motor boats), in addition to boats and accessories sales or purchase services.

In summer, the Port Authority's office is open from 8h30 to 19h30.

Port de Leucate is surrounded  by a large sandy beach, equipped with shops, hotels and restaurants.

Here, you can enjoy sailing and diving courses or rent a jet-sky, a boat or a bike.

The area around Leucate offers lot of beautiful beaches:

Plage de Port Leucate is the closest one. It's about 2 km long, equipped with a wheelchair entrance, showers, car parkings, restaurants and shops. The beach is under surveillance in summer.

Plage du Galion is closer to the city centre and it's one of the most popular beaches of the region. It's a white-sand beach, equipped with two first-aid stations, shops, restaurants and wheelcahir entrances.

A nude beach is located on the left of the harbour.
