Description
Port d'Argelès- sur- Mer is located on the Gulf of Lion Coast, in Mediterranean France. It is part of western Pyrenees, few miles distant from the Spanish border, nestled in Albères mountains.
Mooring is possible along the dam or in one of the three basins available.
Mooring places are 858 in total ( 20 of which are reserved for transiting yachtsmen) for boats with a maximum length of 22 metres, while draught varies from 4 metres in the fore basin and 2.50 metrs in the innermost area.
In summer, there are 177 additional mooring places, 134 of which are mooring buoys and 43 on a floating pier.
A mooring assistance service is available.
Free anchorage is forbidden in the whole harbour and in front of the harbour but, when weather is good, it is possible to stay at anchor in front of the beach south of the harbour (plage du Rocou), on a sandy bottom and with a depth from 3 to 5 metres.
The harbour is well-sheltered but pay attention to eventual north-eastern winds at the entrance. The marina is provided with drinkable water and electrict charging columns.
Toilets and showers are located in three zones. There are 12 toilets (one of which can be used by disabled people), 17 showers ( one of which is reserved for disabled people), while a separate collection area can be used even for oils and exhausted filters, battery boxes and fuel tanks.
Port Authority produces weather bulletins twice a day.
The harbour offers also a slipway, a travelif up to 35 tons, a mobile crane, a garaging area in winter, trained staff for many maintenance and repairing intervations, a 24 h/h automatic gasoline and diesel fueling station.
In summer, the marina even hosts a local fish market.
The area includes lots of restaurants, pizzerias, coffee bars and supermarkets.
Customers can enjoy sailing and boating courses, boat trips, water sports and diving excursions.
The area of Argèles-sur-Mer offers some beautiful beaches, very crowded in summer. South of the harbour, there is Plage de Racou, a sandy beach, a little further from the city centre and, consequenltly, less crowded than the others. The beach hosts a sailing club and, in the right side of it, you can enjoy a walk with your dog.
North of the harbour there is Plage Sud, a sandy beach on Colliure Bay, equipped with a large parking area and a first-aid station.
Plage du Centre is a little more distant from Port d'Argèles-sur-mer. It's a large sandy beach, near to the city centre, thus very crowded in summer. The pedestrain path all around it is rich of restaurants, coffee bars and shops.
