Description

Es Canutells is a bay located along the southern side of the coast of Menorca, not far from the city of Mahon.

It is a narrow, winding bay, surrounded by high steep cliffs, covered with thick Mediterranean vegetation, which can reach 70 meters in height. This stretch of coastline is characterized by the presence of numerous caves (some of which are close to Cala Canutells beach). The seabed is sandy, with algae, with rocks in the lateral areas. The waters are crystal clear and with some dries.

The backdrops are good tenants and suitable for anchorage. However, it is important to pay attention to the presence of currents from the 2nd and 3rd quadrant, which can make difficult the anchoring. The dominant winds are generally those coming from the south east.

On the left side of the bay, the presence of some rocks on the seabed, may make difficult the permanence of important draft vessels. The shallow waters, however, make the mooring in the bay only suitable for relatively small size boats.

The beach of Es Canutells is about 60 meters long and consists of fine sand. From the beach, looking to the left, you can see the Es Canutells urban core and on the left side of the beach, there is an area dedicated to the storage of small fishing boats.

The beach is also easily accessible by land, leaving the car in the nearby car park and following the stairs and the path leading dwn to the beach. On the beach you can find a bar-restaurant.

In the immediate vicinity of Es Canutells you can find some hotels and some restaurants, as well as a car rental agency. Mahon town is about 10 km away. Going up north, you meet another very coveted bay Cala Coves.
