Description

Cala En Porter is located in the Alaior area, along the southeastern coast of Menorca.

The cove is approximately 300 meters deep; it is located near the town of Cala en Porter and is a fjord surrounded by high rocky cliffs, with a stream that flows. Entering the center of the cave, looking to the right, you can see a small agglomeration of white houses and buildings with red roofs, set in the foreground.  On the left stand, the cliff covered with Mediterranean vegetation. The cave is also well visible when you are on sailing in the open sea, thanks to the position of Torre Nova, located a mile northwest of the entrance gate.

The backdrops are made from sand and algae and are good for anchoring.

The best place for boaters to base is in the central part of the bay, about 150 meters from the beach, where the depths of the seabed are between 3 and 5 meters. Due to the lack of protection from southern winds and shallow depths, it is not advisable to ground this bay at night and on very windy days.

At the far end of the bay lies the beach with fine sand and clear water, quite large but of intimate shape. In this area, you can rent beach equipment, such as sun loungers and parasols. In addition, costumers on the beach can take advantage of toilet facilities, showers and a first aid station.

In the summer season, the area is provided with a monitoring service with lifeguards. Nearby the beach, you can find some hotels, clubs, restaurants and businesses activities. The access to the beach can be done easily from the mainland, starting from the center of the resort of Cala en Porter.  You may reach it by car or by public transport.

Alaior and its surroundings are famous for the necropolis of Calescoves, the prehistoric villages and the early Christian basilica of Son Bou.
