Cala Dei Zimmari  

 

Cala dei Zimmari - Panarea Island

Cala dei Zimmari is a safe anchorage situated in the southern part of Panarea Island. Well-sheltered by north and north-west winds, the anchorage is subject to winds blowing from the second and third quadrant.

The seabed is formed by sand and poseidonia meadows.

The beach located opposite the cove is the only sandy one of the island, characterized by a beautiful red colour. This is why it is also known as the "Red Beach". Largely crowded with tourists in summer, it was used by turtles to lay their eggs in the past. On the neighbouring promontory, the remains of a Prehistoric village still survive.
