Elan GT6: construction is complete and the new Elan’s flagship is ready for launch
Here we are, at last. With a few months of delay due to lockdown, the construction of the Elan GT6, the new Elan Yachts‘ flagship virtually presented at Boot Düsseldorf last December, was completed last 17 July and is now being prepared for launch on the Adriatic coast. After a comprehensive optimisation process to maximise its performance and ease of handling, the Elan GT6 will be officially available for public viewing from October onwards.
The waiting is therefore almost over and we will have the possibility to know live what, featuring a length of 49 feet (15.2 m), has already been defined as the natural evolution of the Elan GT5, the forerunner of the Slovenian yard’s crossover collection.
The new Elan Yachts’ flagship model, in fact, is destined to inaugurate a new generation of comfortable and performing sailing yachts, proposing an element that currently makes it unique: the Elan GT6, indeed, is the first yacht in its class to use a flush deck profile.
The creator of the first Porsche 911, well-known for its extraordinary achievements in the yachting field (among them, the Dynamiq Yachts GTT 115 and the Royal Falcon RFF 135, both featuring a futuristic design), has now signed the Elan GT6 (the first sailing yacht designed by Studio F.A. Porsche), contributing to make both the interior and exterior design particularly intriguing, dominated by a tidy and essential environment, in which the brown of the wood finishes chromatically prevails in a clear soft shade that gives brightness to the whole living space, luxury and comfortable at the same time.
Humphreys, instead, had cleverly designed a new high-performance hull and an innovative sailing plan, both essential to embody the exclusive spirit of a Grand Tourer.
Flagship Elan GT6 and the other models exhibited at the EYE Centre
In order to provide a risk-free alternative to boat shows and offer the best possible yacht buying experience, Elan Yachts has created the Elan Yachting Experience (EYE) Centre in the beautiful resort town of Portorož, on Slovenia’s Adriatic coast.
From October onwards, buyers who visit the new EYE Centre will be able to sail and evaluate all three series of Elan yachts – the exhilarating performance of the sporty E Line, the easy handling of the cruising Impression Line and the exclusive luxury of the new GT Line. The first three Elan models on show at the EYE Centre will be the brand-new GT6, the best-selling Impression 45.1 and the performance-oriented E4.
With the safety of staff and customers foremost in mind, plus the uncertainty and logistical challenges associated with the shows that have not yet been cancelled, Elan Yachts has made the difficult decision to withdraw from nearly all of this autumn’s boat shows.
A limited range of Elan yachts might still be exhibited at the Genoa International Boat Show in October but for safety reasons related to the pandemic, that decision must be made closer to the time. Elan’s new flagship GT6 will be exhibited at Boot Düsseldorf if it is safe and practical to do so.
In the meantime, two first-class experience packages are available, with five-star hotel accommodation and fine dining included. Clients can visit the Elan Yachting Experience Center and enjoy a guided tour of the Elan shipyard in Begunje where they can inspect the hi-tech production facility and meet the craftsmen and composite engineers who build Elan yachts.
